Copper Brewing has opened at 102 – 1851 Kirschner Road. Owned and operated by business partners Sean White and Darla Ariss, the new beer brewing company is in a cool space with 70 seats inside and a 40 seat patio, offering easy drinking approachable craft beer. Copper offers 20 beers on tap, a house flagship beer and a tap Copper lager. At this time, the most popular beers are House Net Brown and House English Pale Ale. Other beers offered are Guava Sour, Passionfruit Sour, Hazy Pale Ale, Dry Hop Sour and House IPA. Copper Brewing also offers local ciders and Kombucha’s. It is family friendly with video, board games and treats for the kids and dog friendly with dog treats homemade from grains from the brewing process. Copper Brewing has a wonderful relationship with their neighbors MTL-montREALfood, who prepare the food on Copper’s menu. Well-known media gal Karen Hill, Director of Sales for Black Press BC Interior South is celebrating her 30th anniversary with the Kelowna Capital News and Black Press, today October 2nd. Karen started her career in the classified department of the Capital News and then moved on from classifieds to accounts receivable, accounts payable and then onto becoming accounting department manager. That followed with promotions to CFO for the Okanagan, Publisher of the Vernon Morning Star and Kelowna Capital News and now to her present position. Karen is well-versed in all aspects of running the day to day operations of a newspaper and all that goes with it. On a personal note, I have known Karen for many years, well before becoming associated with the Capital News. It is a pleasure to recognize her in this column and I have immensely enjoyed working with Karen for the past 21 years.

The City of Kelowna is seeking up to seven applicants to provide expertise and advice on community recognition and program development for the Civic and Community Awards Steering Committee for a four year term to run concurrent with the Council term.
